5. Organizer

Marketing isn’t a one man’s job. It is teamwork.

So a marketer not only needs to hire people but should be able to organize and distribute the work among the team members.

So a modern marketer must have the quality of being able to manage the team and get the most done from the group.

6. A/B Tester

If a marketer is not A/B testing, then he/she is probably leaving money on the table.

  • Which copy of the ad works better than others?
  • How customers react to the different call to action options?
  • Do customers notice more a red button, or does it fear them away?

A decent way to evaluate marketing efforts and conversions is to get direct feedback from the customers. It’s essential to understand how an audience responds to a specific change in the product or service.

A small change can broadly impact the way customers interact with products. A/B test can help a marketer know what helps in generating more ROI to the marketing efforts.

7. Thought-Leader

There’s a critical difference between a marketer and a thought leader. The later one infuses long-term strategic goals with a strong bias for sales and marketing integration.

A thoughtful leadership always balance creativity with data, analytics, and measurement.

According to Inc.com, To Be a Great Marketer, You Have to Be a Great Leader First.

8. Strategic Planner

Marketing doesn’t have a direct relationship with sales. It needs proper planning to generate sales.

Strategic planning can help outline the business goals with marketing efforts.

A marketer shall start strategic planning by first defining the company’s mission, then set goals, and finally evaluate the process needed to generate sales.

Marketing efforts can generate leads or inquiries, but planning helps in converting those leads into customers.

9. Copywriter

Copywriters write content for brochures, billboards, websites, emails, ads, catalogs, and more. In short, they write advertising promotional materials. The content is called Copy.

A marketer knows the product/service well enough. Moreover, they interact more with customers. So, they are in a better position to write the copy that connects with the audience.  Knows what a customer wants what they reject.

10. Active Listener

A good marketer listens, but a great one does to obtain information, understand the pain point of the customer to create a sales funnel that aligns with the customer’s need. Actively listening is vital in modern marketing. It lays a significant impact on the relationship with customers.

One needs to understand what customers are trying to convey to improve the customer’s experience. Additionally, the workplace workforce shall be actively involved to influence, persuade, and negotiate in a better way.

11. Brand Ambassador

A brand ambassador is the one who endorses or promotes or represents a given product or service. It is a way to add a human aspect to the product.

To become a prominent promoter of the product or service, a marketer needs to have a first-hand experience of the product. So they can advocate the product to customers.

12. Analyst

Depending on the product, the marketer analyzes a different set of data based on the needs of the customer.

13. Teacher

Gary Vaynerchuk, Neil Patel, Rand Fishkin, Jon Loomer, Jon Morrow, and Seth Godin are great marketers but are an excellent teacher.

Being a good teacher is one of the many qualities a successful Internet Marketing personnel must possess.

Along with being successful marketers, these people are extraordinary bloggers and educators or teachers.

14. Artist

If you consider artists are people using the canvas and the brush, let me share how a marketer should also be an artist.

If you are not able to paint the picture with the content or copywriting or plan how the product or services can change the life of the customer in the way they want it, it can be tough to be useful in marketing.

Marketing is more of an art and less of a science.

15. Budgeter

A marketing budget is an essential component of the marketing plan. It helps outline the costs of how a specific target is to be achieved within a specified timeframe.

Along with being a strategic planner, a marketer’s one of the critical quality has to be a budgeter as well. It’s his/her job to effectively plan a marketing budget making products and generate better ROI.

16. Influencer

An influencer is the one who has established credibility in a specific niche. Moreover, he/she has access to a vast audience with the ability to convince them to act based on recommendations.

A product or service tends to sell only when a marketer lays a profound impact on customers by expressing his point of view on specific brands or products.

17. Communicator

Marketing is all about bridging the gap between what a customer needs and what a customer wants.

As a customer, you need a phone, but you want an iPhone.

Because Apple has bridged the gap of elevating your needs from a phone to an iPhone, they manage to do so with the help of an effective communicator.

18. Data scientist

Data is the lifeline of marketing.

What your customer wants, how they want, when and where they want?

Every such detail comes in the form of data.

It is the job of the marketer to analyze the data and make sense of it.

Never Assume the Obvious

One of the most important qualities successful Internet marketing person has is they never assume the obvious.

The very obvious that seems logical should not be considered as obvious and should be repeated every time in every marketing message.

In India, all Bollywood actors and actresses appear on television shows to promote their films. They will always tell you the release date and will mention go and watch it in a theater near you.

Isn’t that so obvious to watch it in a theater? It is marketing is all about telling the obvious in each and every time.

Taking the clue from the film promotion, if you are writing a membership sales page, the call to action button should read “Click Here to Become A Member” instead of a short and sweet “Buy Now” button.

The same applies to content that you write for your blog. If you write fantastic content that will generate backlinks naturally and rank itself, you are making the mistake of obvious in marketing. There is no obvious in marketing. You have to not only write a great piece of content for your readers but also make sure you work on the marketing aspect of your content to generate backlinks, write guest posts …

Similarly, if you have social icons or comment options on your blog, don’t assume it is evident that they will comment or share. Ask them to do it. So here I am asking if you like this content, make sure you share it with your friends on social media and if you want to share your thoughts, please do so in comments below.

Finally, I have to ask, do you have the needed qualities for being successful at Internet Marketing in the modern era?
